Overview of our delivery specifications
The following specifications summarize our standard procedures and may vary depending on the product and format. Be sure to follow the values provided during the ordering process.
File Types
We accept the following file types: PDF, JPG, TIFF, PNG. We recommend that you use JPG or PDF. If you need help with open formats such as PSD, AI, INDD, EPS or SVG, please contact us.
File transfer
You can upload print-ready files up to 1GB during the ordering process. The maximum file size for our uploads in our editor is 50mb. If you want to send larger files or transfer files outside of the ordering process, please use wetransfer.
Color management & ICC profiles
Unlike other printing companies, we keep our files in the RGB color space until rasterization. This allows us to take advantage of the wider color gamut of RGB and our customers have to go through less trouble. Therefore, we require the Adobe RGB (1998) ICC profile for UV printing and the sRGB ICC profile for fine art printing. Should it be necessary to use the CMYK color space for your print, we recommend using the coated FOGRA39 ICC profile. Please do specify this in advance when ordering. Our editor will process the files in RGB.
Bleed
Bleed is an extra fill around the print to prevent white edges. This bleed is cut off after printing and the content is lost. Be sure not to place important content in the bleed area. Our default values for bleed are 3 mm on each side for UV prints and Fine art below 90x90cm, Fine art above it is a 5 mm bleed on each side.
Printing on canvas
For materials such as canvas, which are stretched on a frame, bleed represents the part of the print that falls on the side of the frame. In this case, the bleed is not cut off, but wrapped around the frame. Our standard values for bleed are 25 mm on each side for prints on canvas on a 2 cm frame and 45 mm on each side for prints on canvas on a 4 cm frame. In addition, prints on canvas require an additional bleed without printing of 30 mm on each side.
Poster frames
For product variations with frames, we use a negative bleed value to represent the part of the print covered by the frame. Be sure to follow the values provided during the ordering process.
Resolution
We recommend a resolution of 150 dpi for UV printing. For small prints and fine art, we recommend a resolution of 300 dpi. The minimum resolution for all prints is 72 dpi.
Routing / Contour
Depending on the material, we offer the option of digitally routing your print into almost any desired shape. This requires adding a vector shape to your file. Create a new spot color named “route” and assign it to the vector path as a stroke color. You can choose any color value you want for this spot color because it will not be printed. We recommend using a color that is easily recognizable, such as 100% magenta or 100% blue. Set the line to overprint. Finally, make sure the vector form is the top layer and that you save your file in a format that supports vector forms, such as PDF. Contact us or add clear instructions to your order to ensure your order is processed correctly. The order must indicate that there is a vector form in the PDF.
White ink
To add a layer of white ink to your print, create a new spot color called “white” and assign it to the areas you want to print with white ink. Please contact us or add clear instructions to your order to ensure your order is processed correctly.
